His parents both played many different instruments and played together in bands around the area. They were involved in some recordings, of that time. He became interested in drums and played in the marching band as a teenager. After his father passed away, his mother gave him his father’s acoustic guitar that she had bought in 1938. Russ immediately started lessons and has been playing ever since. He influenced his two sons to follow his footsteps. He is active in his church band and even though he enjoys all types of music, his true love, is the “blues”. Over the years, Russ has acquired a very fine collection of vintage guitars and amplifiers. He has been involved in recording for many years and has had his own “basement studio” for about 10 years. Russ has been married to Kathy for 25 years and they have two sons. He enjoys sports, camping, water skiing and spending time at the family cabin in Wisconsin.
