After spending many hours tracking, overdubbing, sweetening and editing, careful attention needs to be paid to mixing. Just as important as the front end, so is the monitoring system and listening environment because every decision is based on what is heard. At Backbone Studio, “Quality” is our middle name. Whether to insert an outboard processor or output to analog summing amplifiers, top-of-the-line digital converters are employed. At Backbone Studio, we can mix in both the digital and analog domains. There are 32 channels of analog summing that can be recorded on a pristine Ampex ATR-102 1/2” tape deck. To record back to digital, we utilize the Lavry converters. Within the Pro Tools environment, we have a multitude of the highest quality plug-ins available. Most notably Waves, McDSP, URS and Digidesign. Together with the flexibility of the Pro Tools environment, we can utilize many mixing techniques to attain the perfect mix. Furthermore, we have top-notch engineers to compliment the finest equipment. Our engineers have over 40 years of combined experience. If an outside engineer or producer is desired, we can provide a second engineer with knowledge of the studio for maximum efficiency.
